Tax, Customs & Incentives

As Malaysia’s tax and regulatory landscape continues to evolve amidst increasing cross-border investments, digitalisation, ESG developments, and global tax reforms, businesses face growing complexity in managing their tax, customs, and compliance obligations.

Working closely with Andersen Tax and leveraging the broader Andersen Global network, HHQ’s Tax, Customs & Incentives practice provides integrated legal and tax advisory support to corporations, multinational enterprises, investors, financial institutions, developers, and high-growth businesses operating within Malaysia and across the region.

Our practice adopts a commercially driven and solutions-oriented approach, combining legal, regulatory, dispute resolution, and tax advisory perspectives to support clients through increasingly sophisticated business and regulatory environments. We work closely with HHQ’s Corporate & Commercial, Real Estate, Technology, Banking & Finance, ESG, Employment, and Dispute Resolution practice groups to deliver seamless multidisciplinary solutions aligned with our clients’ strategic and commercial objectives.

Our capabilities include advising on:

  • tax-efficient structuring for mergers & acquisitions;
  • cross-border investments and regional expansion;
  • corporate restructurings;
  • real estate and infrastructure transactions;
  • indirect tax and customs matters;
  • transfer pricing and international tax;
  • tax incentives and regulatory compliance; and
  • tax dispute and dispute resolution.

We also represent and assist clients in engagements with the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department involving audits, investigations, negotiations, and dispute resolution proceedings. Where necessary, we act in appeals before the Special Commissioners of Income Tax, Customs Appeal Tribunal, High Court, Court of Appeal, and Federal Court.

As part of HHQ’s broader strategic vision over the next five years, the practice aims to further strengthen its regional and cross-border tax capabilities through deeper integration with Andersen Global member firms and multidisciplinary collaboration across ASEAN and Asia-Pacific jurisdictions.
