Yen Shen is a senior associate based in our Kuala Lumpur office, where his main area of practice is dispute resolution.

Yen Shen attends to court at various jurisdictions regularly and he has experiences in areas such as contractual disputes, debt recovery, insolvency and liquidation, employment law, compulsory land acquisition, family law, tenancy disputes and others.

From time to time, Yen Shen also provides advice and represents clients on criminal matters, including but not limited to providing professional assistance to clients throughout the investigation process by the authority and recording of statements, conducting remand and bail hearings etc.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Has appeared in total of 10 reported cases. 
  • Represented client/investor from the People’s Republic of China (total investment in Malaysia worth hundreds of millions in Ringgit Malaysia) and successfully concluded a favourable settlement on behalf of client via negotiation with Terengganu State Authority, State and District Land Offices, Department of Irrigation and Drainage, Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd, China Communication Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd in respect of an intended compulsory acquisition on part of client’s heavily invested industrial property for purpose of construction of railway link for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project.
  • Acted for contractor (as Plaintiff) and successfully won the High Court suit against the Federal Land Development Authority (“FELDA”) and thereafter successfully negotiated a pleasant settlement on behalf of client with FELDA upon FELDA’s appeal to the Court of Appeal.
  • Assisted counsels and successfully argued for additional compensation in more than 100 land reference matters at the High Court of Malaya.
  • Successfully obtained ex-parte injunction for client in short notice.
  • Successfully negotiated and concluded delightful settlements on behalf of disadvantageous clients via mediations and/or without prejudice negotiations.
  • Successfully convinced opposing party and turned all contentious single divorce petition matters into non-contentious joint divorce petitions.
