Poh Yee is the Team Leader of the Learning & Development of the firm. She charts the department’s direction, key performance index and action plans. With the introduction of CPD scheme for the firm, she schedules all internal trainings for lawyers and staffs and enrolled the lawyers for selected postgraduate studies for the professional development.

In her previous years of legal practice, Poh Yee was active in litigation practice. She possesses full solicitor skill set and was second chair in her previous litigation works.

She has represented financial institutions and corporations in resolving banking and commercial disputes and has represented individuals in land disputes, family disputes, employment disputes and other civil disputes.

  • Bachelor of Laws (Honours), University of East London (1996)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Represented financial institutions such as Maybank, Alliance Banking Malaysia Berhad, United Overseas Bank, AmBank in recovery of loan recovery.
  • Delivered a seminar at the invitation by the Malaysian Bar on the reforms of Bankruptcy Act 1967.
  • Represented a father in his application for sole custody of his child from his wife.
  • Represented National Union of Bank Employees (NUBE) in defending a judicial review application brought by financial institutions to quash decision of the Director General of Trade Union in recognition of category of bank employees.
  • Represented an employee who brought a judicial review application to quash decision of the Director General of Industrial Relations in refusing to deal with her dismissal by the High Commissioner of Australia on the ground of sovereign immunity.
  • Represented 6 employees of the former Menteri Besar of Selangor in defending a suit brought by Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) to recover compensation paid to them under a voluntary separation scheme.
  • Represented 39 members of the Ahmadiah sect in their judicial review application to quash action by Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (JAIS) in arresting the members in a raid and subject them to the jurisdiction of the Syariah Court.
