Chew is an associate based in our Kuala Lumpur office, where his main area of practice is dispute resolution.

Chew has advised and represented various companies and individuals at all levels of the Malaysian Courts, as well as in adjudication and arbitration proceedings.

EXPERIENCE:

Represented a renowned housing developer for the setting aside of an arbitration award in the Court of Appeal and Federal Court.
Represented a housing developer against claims from purchasers for additional liquidated damages in relation to the Housing Development Act 1966.
Represented the co-proprietors of a property in Pudu for the termination of co-proprietorship in the Court of Appeal and Federal Court.
Represented a Malaysian based company in an arbitration claim (Singapore-seated arbitration) against one of Singapore’s largest construction companies arising from the delay in the completion of a residential development in Singapore.
Represented a state-owned developer in defending against an arbitration claim and counterclaim of against an engineering company arising from the delay in the completion of a mixed-use development project in Kuala Lumpur.
Represented a developer in defending against a personal injury claim from individuals arising from the collapse of a link bridge under construction in a mixed-use development project in Kuala Lumpur.
Represented one of Malaysia’s largest asset management and infrastructure solutions company in defending against a claim for breach of contract.
Advised and represented a construction company in adjudication proceedings under CIPAA against a developer in relation to works done.
Advised and represented a developer to oppose an injunction filed by a contractor to restrain the developer from making a demand on a performance bond.
Advised and represented a public listed company to claim for additional compensation due to the acquisition of their underwater land in Johor Bahru for the JB – Singapore RTS Link Project.
Represented the landowners of several plots of land in Petaling Jaya in their claim for additional compensation due to the compulsory acquisition of their land for the LRT3 Project, in the High Court.
Advised and represented clients in seeking a declaration of citizenship in the High Court and Court of Appeal and subsequently the reference of constitutional questions to the Federal Court.
